My Eyes Have Seen The Glory

from Cherry Orchard by Ian Fisher

/
  • Compact Disc (CD) + Digital Album

This album is a collection of songs inspired by Anton Chekhov’s play “Cherry Orchard”, which Ian Fisher is currently performing in at the Theater in der Josefstadt in Vienna, Austria. Like Chekhov’s writing itself, the record’s sound is beautifully bare and direct with nothing to hide behind. Just a voice and guitars. Feverishly recorded in one night, it’s urgency and ease give it life. These are nine dark songs taken refreshingly lightly, six of which were written specifically for the theater piece and three are reworked versions of songs that appeared on Fisher's last release, "Idle Hands”. The Austrian newspaper, Der Standard, describes them as “Melancholy songs of pain that yet somehow beautifully woe the cheerful [characters of the “Cherry Orchard”] and provide the solid ground that they so desperately need.” The album is currently available on Fisher’s website (ianfishersongs.com), Bandcamp, and at the Theater in der Josefstadt, where he will be performing in the “Kirschgarten” for the rest of the season.

about

"for a change of heart... hear the bells"

lyrics

there’s a way you let me know
you wanna stay or you wanna go
you don’t say yes or no
and yesterday ain’t no rule
for today or tomorrow

my eyes have seen the glory
of you walking through the door
different than the way you came before
changing up your stories depending who they’re for
I saw you through each one a little more
a little more

there’s a place I wanna go
at the end of the day at the end of the road
just you just you and me
where you can be
anybody that you wanna be with me

my eyes have seen the glory
of you walking through the door
different than the way you came before
changing up your stories depending who their for
I saw you through each one a little more
